Nueva Ecija: Umali challenges "Mamang Pulis"

PALAYAN CITY - Gov. Aurelio Umali yesterday challenged the Philippine National Police (PNP) to immediately solve the murder of two aides of one his most trusted men at the Capitol Thursday night.

“I challenge PD (Provincial Director Napoleon) Taas and Mamang Pulis to work towards the immediate solution of this case,” Umali said in an interview.

Motorcycle-riding men gunned down the two driver-escorts of Umali's top man, Dr. Reymund Sarmiento, acting head of the provincial affairs monitoringoffice (PAMO) a few meters away from his residence.

Taas said that Roy Malijana, driver-aide Sarmiento died on the spot while Michael Pritanio expired at theto Paulino J. Garcia Memoria Research andMedical Center (PJGMRC) in Cabanatuan City.

Investigation showed the victims were in Poblacion, Sto. Domingo town at about 8:30 p.m. when fired at by unidentified men.
